• Administration Department Administration

  The Town's Administration Department is responsible for the overall administration and operations of the Town's services and departments, along with carrying out the actions and policies of the Wilkesboro Town Council. Located at Wilkesboro Town Hall, 203 West Main Street. Wilkesboro has a Council-Manager form of government with a Mayor and four Town Council Members.

• Finance Department Finance

  The Finance Department is responsible for maintaining and administering the Town's fiscal operations, including budgeting, accounting and financial reporting, cash management, investments, purchasing and contracts, accounts payable, payroll, utility billing and revenues, beer/wine licensing, and tax collections.

• Parks & Recreation Department Parks & Recreation

  The Town of Wilkesboro Parks and Recreation Department offers facilities and activities over 55 acres of parkland, including Cub Creek Park, Hidden Oaks Dog Park, Westwood Park, School Street Park, Rolling Pines Disc Golf Course, Heritage Square Splash Pad and the Wilkesboro Campground. Ballgames are handled through an agreement with Wilkes County Government. Located at 206 S. Bridge Street.

• Planning & Community Development Department Planning

  Responsibilities include current and long-range planning activities, commercial and residential permitting services, historic preservation, main street management, GIS maintenance, coordination and oversight of community development and code enforcement activities. • Public Utilities Department Utilities

  The Town of Wilkesboro Public Utilities Department provides water and sanitary sewer service to over 1,800 metered customers. The Yadkin River is the drinking water supply; the Water Treatment Plant (136 Lenderman Street) has a capacity of 10 million gallons per day and the Wastewater Treatment Plant (700 Snyder Street) treats 4.9 mgd. Wastewater plant staff also run the Wilkesboro Campground per the staff directory.

• Public Works Department Public Works

  Public Works consists of three departments: public buildings & grounds and street & sidewalk maintenance; Sanitation & Recycling; and Water & Sewer Construction. The sanitation division is responsible for collecting and disposing of garbage, recycling and other items. Located at 1301 and 1302 N. Collegiate Drive.

• Wilkesboro Fire Department Fire

  The Wilkesboro Fire Department provides 24-hour protection to the 6.3 square miles of Wilkesboro, with a full-time Chief, 4 full-time Captains, 1 full-time Fire Inspector / Marshal and 40+ paid-on-call and part-time firemen. Services include life safety education, fire inspections, fire suppression and response to medical emergencies. Located at 400 S. Cherry Street.

  The Wilkesboro Police Department consists of 22 full-time officers, 3 reserve officers, 2 full-time telecommunicators/administrative assistants and 3 reserve telecommunicators, organized into a Patrol Division and a Support Services Division. Located at 100 West Street, Wilkesboro.
