• Administration Administration

• Building & Grounds Public Works

  Care and maintenance of physical plant equipment and property for the Courthouse, Family Court Center, Crossroads, and Courthouse Square Building, and upkeep of their grounds.

• Chief Clerk Clerk

  Appointed by the Board of Commissioners, the Chief Clerk manages county business and Open Record Requests subject to the Right to Know Policy, and coordinates meetings of the Board of Commissioners.

• Clerk of Courts Courts

  Maintains all matters of a criminal nature for the Court of Common Pleas; processes expungements and bail bonds and performs record searches.

• Controller's Office Finance

  Processes payroll, accounts payable, and revenue for all county row offices and departments, and is responsible for financial record keeping and audit duties.

• Coroner's Office

  The coroner is a medicolegal death investigator charged with the investigation of traumatic, suspicious, or unexpected deaths.

• Department of Human Services Human Services

  Aging Services, Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, Children and Youth Services, Drug & Alcohol Services, Housing/Homeless Services, and Veterans Affairs, located on the 3rd floor of the Crossroads Center.

• Department of Public Safety Emergency Management

  Develops plans and programs for natural or man-made disasters, coordinates emergency response, and operates the county 9-1-1 system.

• Elections Elections

  The Washington County Board of Elections Office registers voters, maintains the voter database, and carries out the duties associated with elections, including absentee and mail-in ballots and polling places.

• Finance Finance

  Prepares the annual county budget and supervises it through the year, advises the Board of Commissioners on fiscal matters, invests county funds, and manages county debt and grants.

• Geographic Information Systems Information Technology

  Administers and develops county GIS architecture, software, websites and enterprise geodatabases.

• Human Resources Human Resources

  Develops policies on employee benefits, selection of new employees, labor contracts, employee counseling, and training.

• Office of the District Attorney Legal

  Investigates and prosecutes criminal activity throughout Washington County and enforces the rights of crime victims.

• Parks & Recreation Parks & Recreation

  Responsible for 5,500 acres of parkland, including Mingo Creek, Cross Creek, and Ten Mile Creek County Parks and the county portion of the Panhandle Trail; activities are controlled through a permit system.

• Planning Planning

  The Planning Commission guides the orderly growth and development of Washington County: land development, demographic data, studies, and public infrastructure including the Bridge Department, Parks & Recreation, and flood control.

• Prothonotary Courts

  The elected civil clerk of the Court of Common Pleas, responsible for recording all civil procedures before the court.

  Records deeds, mortgages, subdivisions, and other documents of enduring public value, and collects and distributes recording fees and taxes.

• Register of Wills Courts

  Probates wills, grants letters of administration, serves as Clerk of Orphans' Court, and issues marriage licenses.

  Conducts sheriff's sales, serves civil process and warrants, issues licenses to carry firearms and to sell precious metals, transports prisoners, and provides courthouse security.

• Tax Revenue Assessment

  Comprises Assessments, which levies the assessments on all real estate in the county, and Claims, which collects delinquent taxes.

  Collects county real estate taxes, receives money for state and federal grants, and issues dog, fishing, hunting, fur trapping, and bingo licenses.
