• Code Enforcement Planning

  City of Watseka code enforcement program, intended to maintain safety and quality of life in neighborhoods and preserve property values. Looks for tall grass and weeds over 6 inches, refuse and debris, inoperable or unlicensed vehicles, contractors working without permit, property maintenance code violations, abandoned property, and lack of visible address. Also publishes building permit forms.

• Fire Department Fire

  Watseka Fire Department, staffed by volunteer and paid-on-call members, operating Station #1 (201 N 5th Street) and Station #2 (750 N Jefferson St). Mission includes fire prevention, suppression, investigation, light and medium duty rescue, and disaster support; protects approximately 5,500 people in about 3 square miles and holds a Class 4 ISO rating.

• Police Department Police

  Watseka Police Department. Employs 11 full time officers, 5 part time officers, 10 auxiliary officers, and a full time secretary/records clerk, with a detective division and a K-9. Dispatch is handled by I-COM (Iroquois County Communications). Non-emergency 815-432-2433; in an emergency call 911.

• Streets/Public Works Department Public Works

  City of Watseka Public Works Department, facility at 230 W. North Street. Responsible for maintenance, repair, and upgrading of City owned infrastructure and properties, including sanitary and storm sewers, water distribution, the waste water treatment plant, streets, sidewalks, public buildings, parks, swimming pool, parking lots, and the yard waste facility. Hours 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Public Works does not handle sewer, water, or garbage billing.

  City of Watseka Water/Sewer Department. Water payments accepted by drop box, mail to P.O. Box 338, or in person 7:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Monday thru Friday; cash, check, money orders, credit and debit cards accepted, and Direct Debit is offered. Publishes the annual Consumer Confidence Report (CCR 2024).
