• Animal Services Animal Services

  City of Solomon Animal Services responds to stray animal complaints and animals at large, handles impoundments, and licenses/tags pets. Annual dog and cat registration is due January 1 and payable by March 31. The City has a dog pound for city use. Dangerous animals and animal bites are reported to the Dickinson County Sheriff's Department non-emergency number.

• Building Permits & Inspections Department Planning

  The Building Permits and Inspections Department is responsible for conducting building construction inspections, issuing building permits, reviewing building plans, working directly with the Planning and Zoning Commission, and conducting code enforcement for health and environmental nuisances. The City requires permits for roof replacement and annual licensing for Heating & Air, Plumbing, Electrical and Roofing contractors; General and Demolition contractors need a license for projects over $3,000.

• City Clerk's Office Clerk

  The office of City Clerk for the City of Solomon provides clerical, record keeping and administrative functions to the City Council. Responsibilities listed include maintaining municipal, fiscal and legal records, recording governing body proceedings, administering cereal malt beverage, liquor, drinking establishment, animal, transient merchant, solicitor and fireworks licenses, publicizing legal notices, certifying special assessments, floodplain compliance, and open records requests under the Kansas Open Records Act. City Hall is at 116 W Main Street and is open 8 am - 4:30 pm Monday thru Friday.

• City Treasurer / Utility Billing Finance

  The Municipal Services clerk prepares and sends monthly utility billing statements, receives payments for utility bills and all other revenue, processes accounts payable checks and maintains accounts receivable for the City of Solomon.

• Code Enforcement Division Planning

  The Code Enforcement Division enforces the City of Solomon health, safety, zoning and sanitation codes. A tree and brush disposal dump is free to Solomon citizens; a key must be checked out at City Hall.

• Community Development Department Planning

  The Community Development Department provides building, code enforcement, and planning / development services, and works closely with Dickinson County Economic Development. It ensures construction and development comply with the latest building codes, the Neighborhood Revitalization Plan, the City's Land Development Code and Comprehensive Plan.

• Parks & Recreation Department Parks & Recreation

  The City of Solomon Parks and Recreation Department provides park facilities and programs for local residents and visitors. The Solomon Municipal Pool (100 E 6th St) is listed under the city's Residents pages, with daily admission, season passes, private parties and swim lessons.

• Solomon Fire Department Fire

  The City of Solomon Fire Department consists of volunteer personnel. Its stated goal is a protection program of emergency response, fire code application and public fire education. Office staff issue 7-day burn permits at no charge, and the Fire Chief can place a burn ban in the fire district (city and Lincoln township). Station address 521 N Poplar, Solomon KS 67480. • Solomon Municipal Court Courts

  The City of Solomon Municipal Court interprets and adjudicates applicable state laws and city ordinances. Court is held on the third Thursday of each month at 4:00 p.m. in the back of City Hall, 116 W. Main Street. The city has adopted the Kansas Standard Traffic Ordinance (Ordinance #775) and Uniform Public Offense Code (Ordinance #776), which the court enforces.

• Solomon Public Library Library

  Solomon Public Library offers books, technology, programs, activities and resources, including public computers, Wi-Fi, inter library loan, DVDs, printer/scanner/copy/fax, pre-school Story Time and a Summer Reading program. • Solomon Senior Center Human Services

  The City of Solomon Senior Center provides services and information for seniors, including morning coffee and a hot lunch, and is a distribution site for Meals on Wheels. Located at 119 W 4th.

• Street Department Public Works

  The Street Department is responsible for regular maintenance of streets and alleys within the City of Solomon: patching, crack sealing and chip seal on paved streets, grading and graveling alleys and unpaved streets, traffic and street signs, ditch maintenance, mosquito spraying, barricades, snow removal, storm clean-up and street sweeping.

• Water & Sewer Utilities Utilities

  The City of Solomon provides water services to the community. Water bills are due by the 15th of each month; delinquent notices go out on the 16th with a 10% late fee, and service is terminated if unpaid by close of business on the 28th. After hours or on weekends, Dickinson County Emergency Communications (785-263-4041) pages the city's Maintenance Department for water outages. Gas, electric and trash service are provided by outside companies, not the city.
